I love seeing all the creative things people are doing during this time at home. There are wonderful, funny songs being written, amazing projects being invented to entertain and educate children, beautiful ways being thought up to celebrate birthdays together, while honoring what we are being told to do…I think this whole experience has the potential to bring out the very best in all of us, and I think that has already begun.

Your Inner Workspace

The invitation in my Mastermind group last week was to create a sacred workspace. I sat down and looked at where I do most of my writing and dreaming, and it already has a sacred energy to it. What I’m more interested in is my inner workspace – my mind. I take that with me everywhere I go, so it needs some consistent attention. I’ve started asking myself what needs to be cleared out in order to make my mind a loving, peaceful, creative place.

While I’m just beginning this journey with a very specific intention, the things I’ve noticed so far that have been standing in my way are judgment, criticism, the need to be right, and acting from a place of fear instead of love. I’m sure that in the coming weeks, more will be revealed. In the meantime, I am happily decluttering my mind and making space for my most authentic self to come forth. It’s time. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to go back to the way things were. Beneath all the noise and chaos, there is a deep sense of calm. That’s what I want to carry forward into my life.

What if…

… this is a time to get still and let our hearts speak more loudly than ever before? What if, every day, we choose to let go of one more habit or belief that no longer serves us? What if we have a ceremony to honor all that we are releasing? What if we take this newfound peace and clarity into everything we do, and what if we are beacons of light for those around us who need it most?

My wish for all of us is that we take this time to dig deep, pull out the weeds, and plant the seeds for our best future ever. What if, at the very core of our beings, we discover a place of great love, joy and compassion? What if those tools have been in us all along, and what if we needed this respite to catch our breaths?

May your homes be blessed with great health, happiness and love today and always.

3 Tips For Creating a Sacred Workspace

Bring in things that inspire you.

I love being surrounded by pictures of Buddha, a beautiful statue of Ganesh, angels, sacred texts, and scented candles. I also love having hand written notes from my closest friends close by. It’s a delight to step into this carefully crafted space every day. It has such a soothing and loving energy.

Choose fun colors!

The walls in my office are white, but what I love about that is that they feel like a blank canvas, and that gives me the freedom to change the things I tape to the walls whenever the feeling hits. Today, I like having my vision boards up there, as a reminder to keep dreaming, I love putting little Post-Its up with quotes from books I’m reading, and I like creating what I call vision clouds, with ideas for my next project. I think of this space as a glitter explosion. This is where my ideas come to life.

Be gentle with yourself.

It’s okay to let things get a little messy. This is my creative workspace, so while I do tidy up at least once a week, I love letting my projects stay out as long as they need to. They have a life of their own. Once I feel complete, a notebook or my crafts will be put away, or pile of papers can be recycled. Just as you wouldn’t clean up every dish in the middle of cooking a beautiful meal, you can be give yourself a break here. It helps that this is a space that’s all my own, tucked away in a corner of our house. If you’re sharing this space with someone else, you may have to compromise a little.
